Test Your LeadIn Setup

Verify that your call forwarding and LeadIn integration are working correctly. Run this test anytime to confirm everything is connected.

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

Your forwarding number the LeadIn number provided after your enrollment
Phone forwarding configured see our Phone Forwarding Guide if not done yet
Your cell phone to make the test call and receive SMS
Slack open to watch for the job card

Test Steps

Call Your Main Business Number

Using your cell phone, call your company's main phone number — the one customers call to reach you.

Don't answer the call. Let it ring 4-5 times until it forwards.

Listen for the LeadIn Greeting

After the call forwards, you should hear:

You'll hear
"Thanks for calling [Your Company Name]! We'll text you shortly to schedule your service. Goodbye."

The call will automatically end after the greeting.

❌ If you hear your normal voicemail
Call forwarding isn't configured correctly. Check our Phone Forwarding Guide and verify your settings.

Check for the SMS

Within 10 seconds of hanging up, you should receive a text message from LeadIn asking about your service needs.

Example SMS
"Hi! Thanks for calling [Company Name]. If this is a life-threatening emergency, please call 911. Otherwise, what plumbing issue can we help you with today?"

Reply to Complete the Test

Reply to the SMS with test information. The system will ask follow-up questions.

Example conversation
LeadIn: What plumbing issue can we help you with?
You: My kitchen sink is leaking

LeadIn: Got it. What's your name?
You: QA Test

LeadIn: And your address?
You: 123 Test Street, Seattle WA

LeadIn: Confirm: Kitchen sink leak at 123 Test Street for QA Test. Correct?
You: Yes

Check Your Slack

Within 1-2 minutes of completing the conversation, a job card should appear in your Slack channel.

The job card will include:

  • Customer name (QA Test)
  • Phone number (last 4 digits shown)
  • Service address
  • Job description
  • Priority level
✓ If you see the job card, your setup is complete!
LeadIn is now live and ready to capture leads from your overflow calls.

🎉 Test Complete!

If you completed all steps successfully, your LeadIn system is working correctly.
Every missed call will now become a job card in your Slack.

Troubleshooting

I heard the greeting but didn't get an SMS

Check your phone's spam/blocked messages. Make sure you're using a mobile phone that can receive SMS (landlines can't). If the issue persists, contact us.

I completed the SMS but no Slack message appeared

Check that you're looking at the correct Slack channel. If still missing, your Slack webhook may need to be regenerated — contact us and we'll help.

The greeting said the wrong company name

Contact us — there's a configuration issue in our system that we need to fix.

Call goes to my regular voicemail

This is a phone forwarding issue, not a LeadIn issue. Check our Phone Forwarding Guide to verify your settings.
